This is the home on the Internet for the community of Glenlyon in Central Victoria.

Officially launched in October 2010, to coincide with the Glenlyon 150th anniversary celebrations, the website is run on behalf of the Glenlyon Progress Association.

On this site you’ll find all sorts of information for locals and visitors, including local news items, a directory of local groups, a calendar of events, even back copies of the local printed newsletter, The Glenlyon & District News.

If you’re unfamiliar with the format of our web address glenlyon.vic.au, it’s what is known as a Community Geographic Domain Name (CGDN), an easy-to-remember locality-based address intended for community websites, introduced Australia-wide in 2004. See here for more about CGDN’s, or see here for examples of other community websites around the country (opens in a new window).

If you represent a local group, we have important information for you about listing your details here.

Use the Contact Us link at the top of any page to provide feedback, suggest news items, or to advise of upcoming events.

We hope you will enjoy exploring this website, and welcome your feedback so that we may enhance and expand it.

Local group information

Local groups are encouraged to make full use of this community website, where you may have all sorts of information on your own ‘Local Directory’ page. You can contact us here for more information.

Of course, we can publish contact details (including names, phone numbers, email addresses, and a link to your own website if you already have one), but also consider photos, a schedule of events, your aims and objectives, competition results, and other information – a potential saving on printing & postage costs.

If you have commonly requested documents (for example, membership forms), have them available for download, simply by directing people to the easy-to-remember glenlyon.vic.au website. Another way to save on printing & postage costs!

Your group may be eligible for a community email address. You can then use an easy-to-remember address in the form of groupname@glenlyon.vic.au, which can be used independently, or can be set up to re-direct mail to an existing address if you wish.

There is no charge for any of the services. That’s right, it’s free! This community website is here for groups just like yours, so why not use it?
